Earth Day on April 22, 2024 held a special significance this year. Embracing the traditions has taught me to establish a profound connection with Mother Earth through inherent faith. The experience has allowed for a genuine and profound bond with the spiritual realm. Following our customary practice, I performed a solitary ritual centered around building a specific kind of fire. This ritual aimed to foster a deep connection with the Earth and all its diverse life forms, including plants, animals, and humans.
This is a time of potential and fertility, where the vibrant energy of the Earth starts to surge and nature blossoms in all its splendor. It presents a marvelous opportunity to harness this auspicious period and invite the life force energy of fertility into various aspects of our lives, including our health, relationships (both familial and romantic), finances, and projects. Embracing this moment allows us to awaken our latent potential and accomplish things that we have long desired but lacked the necessary strength and motivation to pursue.
Planting trees on Earth Day is a common practice, and this year we were fortunate enough to acquire 10 young evergreen trees. Our intention is to plant some of them in our sacred natural area, as a way to replenish the trees that were recently removed. Additionally, we plan to plant one tree on your property, while the remaining trees will find their home in the small conservation land adjacent to our house.
The ritual was a truly exquisite experience, creating a moment where time seemed to stand still. The warmth of the sun and the refreshing crispness of the air contributed to the ambiance. As dusk approached, the birds became incredibly lively, seemingly enchanted by the rhythmic drumming and captivating throat singing. In accordance with our tradition, I adorned our magnificent Asian fir tree with additional chalama ribbons. This tree, possessing a beautiful spirit, serves as a haven for various animals and birds, truly embodying its nurturing nature.
I hope you had a wonderful Earth Day celebration this year. Please enjoy some media from the ritual.
